I was recently on the Serato website because I like to check the forums and keep up with the latest and greatest of Serato since I use that when I DJ. I was checking out a video posted on the Serato website about a huge party called The Do-Over. Some of the biggest DJs spin at The Do-Over but that is beside the point here. As I began reading the comments beneath the video I noticed there was a big argument between the DJs about who is and is not a DJ and why. I was not surprised, yet I was still amazed at how DJs themselves have a hard time agreeing on what it is to be a DJ. So I shared the link to my blog here and hopefully it helps shed some light on things for people.

That's great to hear. I'll definitely check those links. I have some friends here that still spin all vinyl on the regular. I jump in and spin with them from time to time too. Keep it going! I miss being out in Italy! Glad to hear you're doing well.

What's up DJ Simple/J.R. Noble? It's ya boy DJ Derrick-Dee from your military days in Aviano Italy....Hope all is well, and yes I'm still here in Italy. Actually I left in 1998, returned in 2003, left again in 2004 and returned in 2008. Insightful blog that you wrote and a very good observation on the state of the DJ. Just want you to know a few of us old school DJ's are keeping spinnin' vinyl alive. I recently played a set in Milano and just played in Torino Italy last weekend. It was a 2 day event. Check out these links for more info on what we're doing over here in Europe:
